Explore The Art Of Ballet Now
Posted by Amanda P Carter in Computer on April 19th, 2010
Almost everyone knows the ancient Greeks were considered to be great warriors and artists. Both males and females were known to be blessed with talents in fields such as theater, painting, sculpturing, and poetry. Theater was one area including many other arts such as acting, singing, dancing, writing, and poetry. This kind of art was afterwards reflected in other countries such as Indian, China and Indonesia. Ballet is a special dance form essentially inspired from Greek and Roman theaters to take its full form in 1400s in Italy and France. Although dance was suppressed because of the churches this art spread to Russia and America with a version of their own. The word “Ballet” was derived through the Latin word “Ballere” which meant dance.
In the course of the renaissance period in Italy, ballet was the product of court pageantry. Domenico da Piacenza was obviously a well-known artist to have mastered arts. He used to teach the nobles and other people who would always perform within the court. These court musicians and dancers would perform on great occasions like weddings. These court musicians and dancers were later joined by the ballet De Cour which consisted of dancers that wore elegant outfits and sang lovely songs. This particular art was moved from Italy to France when Catherine de Medici of France married Henry II of Italy. She made wonderful contributions to assist and flourish the art in France.
Under the rule of Louis XIV, performance art was handed great significance because he himself had a taste for it and was responsible to encourage that which is known now as Paris Opera Ballet. Jean-Baptiste Lully was the favored Italian composer of the king. He had a great knowledge of the physical movements, musical songs and graceful dance. He gave great contribution to ballet which was of utmost importance even after many years. He along with another French writer Moliere created Comedie-ballet. He was responsible to combine Italian and French ballet. French ballet consisted of instrumental music at first and then vocal music was included with it.

Just how we watch free movies has been evolving so rapidly in the world today!
If you are wise you will only partake in legal movie downloads. Pirated downloads are unlawful and you are therefore stealing from and depriving many people of the fruits of their labor and inventiveness. The top movie studios at this moment are really starting to crack down and increasingly more men and women are getting arrested and fined for even just a few downloads. You aren’t resistant to prosecution when you download even just one film unlawfully. Also so that they can enforce the laws, prosecutors are increasingly cracking down on everyday people, patrons of the services rather than just the movie download site owners.
The newer computer systems that men and women are buying come with large hard drives, making it possible for big downloads such as movie files. Usually these files can be transferred to a DVD to regain your hard drive space. Let’s take a brief look at some facts about movie downloads and why you might consider checking this out.
One justified reason to download movies via the internet is all the time you’ll save by not running around trying to find what you would like. Realistically downloading the film might take some time but you can be doing other stuff while your personal computer completes the download. On the other hand if you have to go to the video store for a video, you are usually going to waste a lot of time.

Del Mar: Southern California’s Horse Racing Capital
Posted by Ross Everett in Entertainment on December 23rd, 2009
Southern California’s Del Mar Racetrack has been somewhat forgotten by the general public in recent years, overshadowed by East Coast venues like Churchill Downs and Belmont Park. The reality is that the 72 year old track has a history to rival their better known counterparts. Operated by the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and located 20 miles North of San Diego, its perhaps most famous for its iconic slogan “Where The Surf Meets the Turf” but that only scratches the surface of its star studded history.
The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club was founded by a group of well heeled enthusiasts in the mid’30s, and they immediately turned their attention to building a world class horse racing venue. The names that were instrumental in the creation of Del Mar include a whos who of American entertainment–most notably Bing Crosby, Oliver Hardy (of Laurel and Hardy) and Jimmy Durante. At the time the facility opened thoroughbred horse racing was the second most popular sport in America behind major league baseball, and Del Mar quickly gained a reputation for being a player in the industry.
The starpower drawn to the course was unprecedented. Bing Crosby himself greeted patrons at the gate on opening day, and during the late’30s and early’40s it became a place to be seen for Hollywood A-listers and those who aspired for celebrity. In addition to known gambling enthusiasts like W.C. Fields, Edgar Bergen and Red Skelton, the Del Mar patrons during that time also included some of the top female stars of the era including Ava Gardner, Paulette Goddard and Dorothy Lamour
The Arena Football League Calls It Quits
Posted by Ross Everett in Entertainment on December 21st, 2009
After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were “unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months.” The league had reached a new agreement with players earlier this year, but was unable to convince enough owners that they had a viable plan to return to profitability. The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now.”
Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, it didn’t exactly send a positive message about the future viability of the league.
In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations”despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) suggested that the end of the five year old franchise was in no way an indictment of the New Orleans market. Instead, he cryptically explained that it was due to circumstances currently affecting the league and the team.”
Rio Beats Out Chicago, Two Other Cities To Claim 2016 Summer Olympics
Posted by Ross Everett in Entertainment on November 3rd, 2009
South America will host the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in 2016, as Rio De Janeiro, Brazil was awarded the honor on Friday. Rio beat out the US choice of Chicago, Illinois along with Tokyo, Japan and Madrid, Spain to earn the right to host the games. Despite a high pressure effort from the American power elite–including President Barak Obama and TV gabfest queen Oprah Winfrey–Chicago was the first city eliminated from contention.
Bookmakers offered odds on the host city choice, with Rio listed as second favorite at +200. Chicago had been the wagering favorite at most books, particularly after President Obama got involved personally in the US bid effort. Chicago was bet as high as a -300 favorite, while Madrid and Tokyo were priced in the +250 range. Some suggest that Tokyo didnt deserve to have such short odds, but was the beneficiary of regional pride from the notoriously enthusiastic betting population of Japan. Despite some media attention to the betting odds, bookmakers reported that they didn’t receive a lot of action on the event.
Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, got the better of his US counterpart with a passionate speech that stood in marked contrast to Obamas typically baleful collection of talking points;
Steelers Win 12th Straight Over Browns
Posted by Ross Everett in Entertainment on November 2nd, 2009
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been playing the Cleveland Browns for longer than any other team in the National Football League, dating back to 1950. And while it hasn’t been quite that long since the Cleveland Browns won a game against the Steelers it may be starting to feel like it. On Sunday, Pittsburgh won for the twelfth straight time dating back to 2003 as they topped Cleveland by a final score of 27-13. The defending Superbowl champions improved to 4-2 while the Browns fell to 1-5.
The good news for NFL betting enthusiasts who took the +13′ with the Browns as a road underdog is that they managed to cover the pointspread by the slimmest of possible margins. Betting against the defending Superbowl champion is a long standing handicapping concept, and this season at least its worked like a charm-the Steelers have only covered one of their first six games. Cleveland, meanwhile, evened their NFL pointspread record at 3-3 on the season. The Browns have covered three straight after dropping their first three both straight up and against the spread. The 40 combined points went OVER the posted total of 37′.
Pittsburgh dominated the game in virtually every statistical category. They amassed 28 first downs to 12 for Cleveland, held a 543 to 197 total yardage advantage and a 36:46 to 23:14 time of possession advantage. Most of the post game talk from both sides was about a controversial spot in the first half where the Steelers were given a first down on a short yardage play when it appeared that they didn’t make the required yardage.
Manning, Colts Destroy Lowly Rams
Posted by Ross Everett in Entertainment on November 1st, 2009
Peyton Manning was unable to tie a NFL record with his sixth straight 300 yard game , but the Indianapolis Colts remained undefeated by ripping the lowly St. Louis Rams 42-6 at the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday. Manning amassed 235 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions as the Colts made short work of the winless Rams. The Colts are now 6-0 on the NFL season, while the Rams are 0-7.
NFL betting devotees who backed Indy as -14 road favorites easily won their bets as the Colts improved to 5-1 against the spread. After dropping their first game of the year to the number, Indy has run off five straight pointspread covers. The Chiefs dropped to 2-5 against the spread with the setback. The 48 points scored went OVER the posted total of 45. Kansas City has gone OVER in four of seven games this season, while Indianapolis evened their NFL totals record at 3-3.
After the game, Colts’ coach Jim Caldwell praised his quarterback:
